Carbide tipped forstner bits were designed so the rim remains extremely sharp, especially at the leading edge. It is here that the rim stays engaged in the cut so the bit won’t drift laterally. This prevents tearout at the beginning of the cut to give a smooth clean cut. The finished hole will show a small center hole at the bottom of the hole. Clamshell packed for hanging display.
